KUCHING: Petrosains, The Discovery Centre, a prominent modern science centre, has partnered with Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (Yayasan Peneraju), an agency under the Ministry of Economy dedicated to empowering the Malaysian workforce, to introduce an innovative digital enhancement programme.
The objective of this collaboration is to provide Sarawakian youth with fundamental digital skills and empower them to develop the abilities required for the modern job market in the 21st century..
The programme, entitled ‘Aspirational Skill Leaders: Digital Upskilling 2023’, will provide comprehensive modules and workshops specially designed to improve participants’ knowledge and capabilities in various technological and digital domains.
This programme is offered free of charge and is open to school leavers between the ages of 17 and 21.
“Through this programme, participants will learn the basics of coding and robotics that include their applications and uses as well as exposure to jobs in the technology and digital fields,
“We are very pleased to collaborate with Yayasan Peneraju in this programme. This kind of collaboration should continue to help build a generation that is aware of science and technology and innovates, which can contribute to the development of the 4IR landscape in Malaysia.
“This is in line with the country’s vision to develop a dynamic and efficient digital economy,” said chief executive officer of Petrosains Sdn Bhd, Ezarisma Azni Mohamad.
“There are three workshops offered under this programme which will be held in Kuching from June 18 to 22, then in Miri from August 21 to 26 and in Sibu from September 11 to 16,” she added.
Through this, Petrosains will use its expertise in educating the youth about the development of the digital era driven by advanced technology in driving the country’s sustainable development in the future.
This collaboration is in line with the commitment of Petrosains, which is a vehicle for PETRONAS’ social impact in efforts to empower knowledge in the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education.
Furthermore, this kind of effort is believed to contribute to the growth of digital talent in this area.
