SIBU: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh has called upon members of his party to lend their unwavering support to the Unity Government.

Wong, who is also the Bawang Assan assemblyman, said that by doing so, they can ensure the government remains stable and strong in the face of so many adverse, divisive forces like racism and religious extremism.

“It is the PSB’s stand that the Unity Government under the capable leadership of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should be given all available opportunities to right all the wrongs committed by the previous governments,” he said in his speech at the PSB Gawai Dayak Dinner here last night (June 17).

Wong further emphasised that over the past three to four decades, the nation has witnessed the failure of various national objectives and slogans.

From Tun Mahathir’s Wawasan 2020 to Tun Abdullah Badawi’s Islam Hadhari, and from Datuk Seri Najib’s 1 Malaysia to Tun Mahathir’s Malaysia Baharu, each slogan fell short of achieving its intended goals.

“It is hoped that the new administration under the leadership of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, with decisiveness of action and admirable courage, can carry out his objective of ‘Malaysia Madani’ to wipe out corruption and inefficiency and to remove all forces of division among our people,” he said.

He also stressed that PSB will give full support to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to enable him to fully realise his ‘Malaysia Madani’.

“At the state level, as I said in the recently concluded State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting, we are also ready to give full support to our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg in the spirit of stability and unity to enable him to fully carry out his ‘People First’ initiatives.

“In meeting the basic needs of the people, such as infrastructure facilities like water and electricity supplies, road connectivity, improving school and health facilities, better housing needs, more internet coverage, and more, while carrying out his visionary and far-sighted programmes and plans of achieving a developed Sarawak state with a high-income society by 2030,” he said.
