SARIKEI: The existing Sungai Rejang Market situated in the centre of the town here is set to undergo a facelift.
Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said the objective of the upgrade is to enhance the comfort of both the hawkers and visitors.
“At the same time, it will also give the hawker centre a fresh new look,” he said during a working visit to the market along with the staff of Sarikei Distict Council here recently.
“The upgrade of the Sungai Rejang Market is proof of the government’s continued commitment in transforming and strengthening the demand network in Sarikei town,” he said.
The Repok assemblyman also said ghat in view of the deteriorating condition of certain buildings within the market, it is high time for upgrading works to take place.
“We are here today to better understand the needs and problems faced by the hawkers in the market.
“Therefore, the necessary upgrading works will be carried out to ensure the comfort of both hawkers and visitors,” he said.
