SIBU: Seventy-three students from SMK Sacred Heart here were awarded cash incentives on Wednesday for achieving outstanding results in last year’s Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
They accounted for 41 per cent of students who sat for the SPM 2022.
The cash incentive awards came from Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng who made the presentation at the school’s centenary hall.
Also present was school principal David Teo.
Of the number of recipients, 14 were 11A achievers, 11 (10A), six (8A), 12 (7A), 10 (6A) and 14 (5A).
In his address at the presentation, Chieng said the incentive was his encouragement to outstanding students to do their best and continue on for tertiary studies.
He hoped that after their graduation, they would come back to Sarawak to serve the community.
Meanwhile, Chieng said he would also give similar cash incentives to last year’s SPM achievers from three other secondary schools in his constituency, namely, SMK Methodist, SMK Bukit Assek and Catholic High School.
He said they need not have to apply for such incentive because he would give them automatically based on their examination results.
