Three deaths reported as dengue cases surge

PUTRAJAYA: The 23rd Epidemiological Week (ME23) covering the period from June 4 to 10, has witnessed a 5.8 percent increase in dengue fever cases, with a total of 2,608 cases reported.

This marks a rise from the previous week’s tally of 2,466 cases.

In a statement, Health director-general Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan disclosed that three fatalities resulting from complications related to dengue fever were recorded during ME23.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, the cumulative number of dengue fever cases reported until ME23 has soared by a staggering 154.2 percent, reaching 51,331 cases. 

This figure stands in stark comparison to the 20,194 cases reported during the equivalent period in 2022.
