KOTA SAMARAHAN: Local fashion designers have been encouraged to produce digital t-shirts.

Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs) Professor Dr Al-Khalid Othman said he hopes to see the production of digital t-shirts that will have an impact on the wearer.

“I was previously directly involved in digital development in Sarawak and I hope one day a digital t-shirt can be produced.

“An example of a digital t-shirt design that I can recommend is a t-shirt design that has a QR code where when the QR code on the t-shirt is scanned, information can be obtained.

“One of my suggestions is that there should be a collaboration with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) such as the autism organisation where information about autism can be conveyed after the QR code is scanned from the shirt in addition to information about the design of the shirt itself,” he said.

He said this at the launch of a local jersey from Sibu, Kreeman, at the Unimas Pavilion Multipurpose Hall last night.

The launch was a collaboration between the company and 5 Art Management programme students who conducted data collection through Project Based Learning (PBL) for their Final Year Assessment Project (PTA).

Among those present were the Dean of the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts Associate Professor Dr. Musdi Shanat, Art Management Programme Coordinator Dr. Mazdan Ali Amaran, founder of the Kreeman Lai Syukriman Gusti brand and Crisaranitra Aning Project Director.

Commenting on the collaboration between the Kreeman brand and students from the Art Management programme, Lai Syukriman said he was contacted by the student group via Instagram to collaborate on the project.

“In addition to cooperating by giving permission to launch the Kreeman jersey, my team also produced a special jersey for students at Unimas.

“The jersey produced is special because before I have never produced a jersey for any student at another university. In addition to the unique design and high-quality jerseys, the prices are also reasonable,” he said.
