SERIAN: Parents should collaborate with the Parent- Teacher Association (PTA) to ensure that their children received proper education, said Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Martin Ben.

According to him, the movement of students in the school  should be monitored closely to prevent truancy issues.

Martin, who is also Kedup assemblyman, said this in his speech at the 48th Annual General Meeting of the  SMK Tebakang PTA held recently.

He also commended the school for achieving a School Average Grade (GPS) of 5.11 with a 94.5 percent pass rate for students.

At the same event, he approved a Minor Rural Project grant of RM30,000   for the school’s PTA to purchase furniture and to fence off an empty pond area as a parking lot to address the parking space problem.

Also present were Tebedu District Officer representing t Serian Resident Joseph Liaw, Deputy Education Officer of Serian District (Planning Sector) Patrick Mandon, chairman of SMK Tebakang Alumni Dr Chali Unggang and acting principal of SMK Tebakang Jeffery Moreh.
