MUKAH: A driver and his attendant managed to escape unscathed after the four rear tyres of their trailer caught fire this morning.
The 4.45 am incident happened along Jalan Persisiran Pantai Kuala Tatau, Balingian.
The driver, aged 36, and his attendant, 21, managed to pull over by the roadside and alerted to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) to the incident.
A spokesman said firemen from Mukah station were deployed to the scene.
On arrival, they found that the left rear tyres of the trailer laden with fertilisers were still on fire.
They immediately went into action to ensure the fire did not spread.
The team concluded their operation at 6.35 am.
