KUCHING: Fourteen Chinese private schools have received a grant of RM10 million from the Sarawak state government.

The grant was presented by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau Lee Ming, who represented Sarawak United Association of Private Chinese Secondary School Management Board, in a ceremony at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday (July 3).

Lau said this grant was crucial in alleviating the financial burden of these schools and supporting their daily operations.

“These schools are funded through assistance obtained from the local community and the public. This grant will help ease the burden and ensure the smooth running of the schools, especially small Chinese private schools located in rural areas where it is difficult to raise funds,” he told the press here after the ceremony.

Lau expressed his gratitude to the Sarawak government, particularly the Premier, for its concern for the well-being of these schools.
