SOP’s telematch marks 55th Anniversary

MIRI: Sarawak Oil Palms (SOP) celebrated its 55th Anniversary with a telematch at SOP Lambir Estate today (July 8).

In a press release, the event was attended by Consul General Raden Sigit Witjaksono from the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia and Plantation Controller Peter Ko Ung Hu from SOP.

Their presence highlighted the strong relationship between Malaysia and Indonesia and emphasised SOP’s dedication to teamwork and collaboration.

It is estimated 600 Indonesians working in the plantation.

Ko said, “This event is a great way to promote a healthy lifestyle, teamwork, and community involvement. We are proud to recognise our exceptional workers through various awards, acknowledging their outstanding contributions to the company’s success.”

The telematch offered a variety of engaging activities suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. It gave employees a chance to demonstrate their skills and competitive spirit, fostering a sense of unity and pride within the SOP community.

The celebration also included the presentation of 33 esteemed employee awards in categories such as Best Harvesters, Best Lorry Drivers, Best General Workers, Best Mill Operators, and Best Tractor Drivers, among others. These employees’ dedication and exceptional performance played a significant role in the company’s growth and success.
