SIBU: A total of 634 applications for Temporary Personal Documents for Individuals Without Citizenship in Sarawak (DSITKS) have been received by the Ministry of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development as of June 30 this year.

Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said only 289 of them met the stipulated requirements and out of these 189 applications for temporary personal documents were approved by the federal government.

“Most of the applications that did not get approval involved children who did not have birth certificates,” she said in her speech at the presentation of DSITKS to six recipients here today.

Fatimah advised parents to apply for birth certificates for their children regardless of their child’s age as it will help expedite their applications.

The Dalat assemblywoman said the DSITKS document is valid for two years and the children can receive healthcare and education.

On the DSITKS, Fatimah said that out of 289 applications that met the requirements, 189 of them have been approved.
