MIRI: In conjunction with the upcoming Pesta Nukenen, MASwings has announced the addition of one daily flight between Miri (MYY) and Bario (BBN).
The temporary flight increase will be in effect from July 25 to 31, coinciding with the 16th edition of the Bario Food and Cultural Festival scheduled from July 27 to 29.
MASwings, currently operating twice daily flights (14 times weekly) on this route, will offer seven additional flights during the festival period, representing one extra flight per day.
This initiative aims to support the Sarawak Tourism Board’s domestic tourism promotion and showcase the unique attractions, cultural heritage and delightful cuisine of the local Kelabit community in Bario.
MASwings chief operating officer Suresh Singam highlighted the airline’s commitment to providing safe and reliable air transport services, particularly in fulfilling the Public Services Obligation (PSO) Agreement for rural areas, especially in Sarawak.
“We thank the Ministry of Transport Malaysia and the Malaysian Aviation Commission for granting ad hoc approval for these additional flights,” he added, as per a press statement on Monday (July 17).
Passengers interested in experiencing the Bario Food and Cultural Festival can book their journey through MASwings or Malaysia Airlines ticket offices, as well as authorised travel agents across Malaysia.
Bookings can also be made via the Malaysia Airlines Call Centre at 1 300 88 3000. For further details on destinations, fares, flight schedules and hassle-free travel booking, visit www.maswings.com.my
