KUCHING: Two vehicles were completely destroyed in early morning fires at different locations today.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incidents.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department said the cases happened around 12.10 am near Siburan and at around 3.55 am in Bintulu.

The first case involved a Perodua Myvi parked behind a food court along Mile 9, Jalan Kuching-Serian.

Firemen from Siburan station were promptly despatched to the scene and the extinguishing deed was performed with water sourced from the fire truck.

Meanwhile, the second case involved an Aveta motorcycle left by the roadside along Sungai Plan and firemen from Bintulu station were deployed to the scene.

However, they found that the flames were put out by members of the public with a fire extinguisher.

The team later took over the scene to ensure that the fire is fully extinguished.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the teams concluded the operations and departed back to their stations.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred is yet to be ascertained.
