LAWAS: Sarawak is making significant progress in realising the vision of a civilized Malaysia as the state embraces its diversity in races, religions, and languages, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

In stating this, he said that the Sarawak government has proven to be successful in managing the state’s existing diversity in these 60 years.

“Under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Sarawak will continue to advance, following the theme ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur’.

“The diversity we have must be blended well so that Malaysia can be built on the unity, harmony, well-being, and happiness of all its people,” he said.

Speaking at the Limbang Division Level Al-Quran Recitation Ceremony at Hotel Seri Malaysia here last Tuesday, he stressed that any attempts at creating chaos and tension must be avoided.

“Any disagreements or differences need to be dealt with promptly and wisely without causing any party to be hurt or offended.

“For us Muslims, the Al-Quran has presented a complete road map in matters concerning unity and human relationships, as evident in Surah al-Hujurat, the 49th chapter in the Quran.

“Only with unity and stability will we be able to develop a civilized country that is advanced in terms of thought, spirituality and materiality,” he explained.
