KUCHING: The State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) launched the special fund for Raudhatul Sakinah Kuching Gazebo Waqf and the Nurul Saadah Religious Centre Waqf today.
Its chief executive officer Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai said that the launch of the special fund was to ease the public to channel waqf donations with its online platform provided.
“The purpose of establishing the fund is that we want to launch these two projects (construction of the Gazebo and the Centre) using the same concept, which is waqf.
“The waqf payment method is either donating into our waqf money box or through the scanning of the QR code that we have provided with recitation here.
“Other than that, it (waqf) can also be done through online transactions to the LAKMNS account in Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad,” he said.
He said this during a press conference on the Maal Hijrah Festival at State Jamek Mosque here today.
Touching on the projects, he said that it is to create five more eco-friendly gazebos for the convenience of visitors by applying solar technology and a design structure that allows rainwater harvesting.
Meanwhile, the waqf for the construction of the Nurul Saadah Religious Centre is done to fulfill its responsibility to build a religious centre on a waqf land.
He said, the centre would function as a centre for the study of religious knowledge including the study of the Al-Quran.
Abdul Wahap added that the waqf donation box will be placed in several strategic locations including the premises owned by LAKMNS, namely the State Jamek Mosque, Kuching City Mosque, Baitulmakmur I, Baitulmakmur II, and the Raudhatul Sakinah Kuching Complex. It will also be available throughout the Maal Hijrah Festival.
People who wish to donate waqf can do so in cash, cheque, or online transfer to the LAKMNS account, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (1101-30100063-39).
Donations to the Raudhatul Sakinah Gazebo Waqf project can use the reference ‘Gazebo’ while the Nurul Saadah Religious Centre Waqf uses the reference ‘Nurul Saadah’.
