KUCHING: Health authorities conducted a joint operation to make sure that food premises in Pines Square, Batu Kawah follow the regulations set by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) and the Local Authorities.
On Thursday, the Licensing and Enforcement Division of the Kuching South City Council (MBKS), Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), and Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) collaborated with the Food Safety and Quality Unit (FSQU) from the Kuching Division Health Office for this operation.
According to FSQU Facebook page, during the inspection of 7 food premises, it was discovered that one establishment did not meet the required cleanliness standards.
The inspection revealed the presence of rat and cockroach infestations in the premise.
As a result, the authorities immediately ordered the closure of this establishment for 14 days.
The decision was made under Section 11 of the Food Act 1983.
Furthermore, the Kuching Division Health Office issued a total of 6 notices to the owners and operators of other food premises in the area for various violations of the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.
