KUCHING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was accompanied by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to show support for the ruling coalition candidates in Peninsular Malaysia during the nomination day yesterday (July 29).
Anwar said he, along with Abang Johari and Hajiji, accompanied the candidates for the Sungai Tua, Hulu Kelang, and Gombak Setia state constituencies.
The candidates are Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (Sungai Tua), PH’s Juwairiya Zulkifli (Hulu Kelang), and Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin (Gombak Setia).
“Alhamdulillah, the weather is good while surrounded by supporters who have been present since early morning.
“God willing, a stylish victory for the Unity coalition for the people of Selangor will lift the spirit of unity and reject petty politics,” he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (July 29).
In another Facebook post on the same day, Anwar said after finishing the event in Gombak, he, Abang Johari, Hajiji, as well as Minister of Foreign Affairs Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir went to Selayang and Ampang to show support for the candidates there.
“Alhamdulillah, the spirit of the supporters remains intact and further strengthens the wave of unity in Selangor,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) set July 29 as the nomination day for candidates and August 12 as the polling date for the polls in six states in Peninsular Malaysia, namely Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan.
