KOTA SAMARAHAN: Providing the Stakan youth with an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) programme empowers their computing knowledge and helps prevent misuse of digital technology in their daily lives.
Stakan assemblyman Datuk Hamzah Ibrahim opined that organising a workshop and computer maintenance for 30 Stakan youths can be helpful in developing knowledge in IT for business.
“Many entrepreneurs are successful in the IT field, but simply understanding IT is not sufficient for business success.
“It is crucial for young people to learn computer skills for business and use them responsibly, particularly because there are numerous fraud-related problems in the business world today.
“For that, with the workshop we are conducting, it is hoped that it can be used for them to develop their business properly and for halal matters,” he said.
He said this to reporters after officiating the closing of the Belia Mahir ICT: Basic Computer Workshop and Community Computer Maintenance at Dewan Venet, D’Virtual Park, here yesterday.
He hoped to continue the cooperation with Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak Branch in the future to provide ICT workshops for the community in the Stakan state constituency
“Our area is close to UiTM Sarawak Branch, so we hope that similar programmes will be held in the future to benefit the surrounding community.
“It is to support and also teach the younger generation, especially to continue to understand the use of IT in the future,” he added.
The Community Network Unit of UiTM Sarawak Branch collaborated with Stakan Service Centre and Serba Dinamik Sdn Bhd to organise a two-day workshop for 30 youths last Saturday.
In his speech, Hamzah also emphasised that the workshop would teach basic computer knowledge and maintenance procedures, with a focus on developing ICT literate youth.
The two-day workshop included computer introduction talks, computer maintenance activities, ‘Business Pitching’ activities, e-commerce talks, and digital initiatives by Serba Dinamik Sdn Bhd.
Also present at the ceremony was UiTM’s deputy vice-chancellor of Industry, Community and Alumni Networks (ICAN), Professor Dr Mohamad Hariri Abdullah.
