KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Sarawak government and the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) remain committed to improving the business environment in the state.

MPC said one of the ongoing initiatives is the Malaysian Licensing Guidelines (MyGP) in collaboration with selected Local Authorities (PBT).

“MyGP, led by MPC, supports the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) under Initiative 2.1.6, which aims to establish a robust and effective mechanism for permit and licence issuance,” it said in a statement today.

In line with this, MPC held a business licensing improvement workshop on Aug 1 and 2.

The workshop was conducted in collaboration with the Kuching South City Council (MBKS), Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS)  and Lundu District Council (MDL).

“This workshop follows the business licensing mapping workshop held on May 25, with the objective of developing a business licensing inventory supervised by Sarawak’s Local Authorities and enhancing transparency in business regulations.

“It also serves as a capacity development for PBT officers to produce more quality business licensing guidelines in the future,” it said.

Meanwhile, MPC Sarawak Region director Dr Mazlina Shafi’i said she hoped all the improved guidelines from the workshop will be published online for the reference of the licence applicants.

She thanked all parties involved for their commitment and hoped for consistent efforts in improving the business environment.

Participants of the workshop included officers from the Ministry of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government (MPLG); and the Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit (STIU); and  MPC’s strategic partners.
