MIRI: The Pekit Keling Kumang Raban Ngepan Iban Borneo (RNI) 2023 aims to bring back the rich historical heritage of the Iban in Sarawak.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries, and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan said that Iban inherited traditions must be recognised as heritage and cultural assets. This includes their unique traditional clothing, customs, and traditions.

Snowdan called for everyone including local representatives to play a role in maintaining and protecting these valuable customs.

The ministry has pledged its support for similar programmes by providing the necessary funds and resources.

“If you wish to organise a programme promoting our heritage, you can apply for support from our ministry. We carefully review each application, considering the program’s background and paperwork,” he said during the RNI 2023 Gala Night at the Meritz Hotel here today.

Also present were Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang, RNI president Steven Abas Patrick Agus, and RNI Ambassador 2022/2023 Sherry Bulin.
