KUCHING: Anyone who works hard with good intentions will be blessed with good health, said Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
In light of this, the 73-year-old Premier shared his determination to climb the high-level water tank during his recent visit to Kampung Datu in Sibu.
“I recently went to Sibu to inspect the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) in Kampung Datu. There was a high-level water tank that I intended to climb up.
“The DID deputy director who was present told me that I cannot climb it; perhaps he assumed I couldn’t do it because I am 73. However, I insisted and climbed the tower,” he said, adding State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki later joined him in climbing the high-level water tank.
He said this during the Land and Survey Department’s Innovation and Integrity Day closing ceremony at the Pullman Hotel here last night (August 11).
Abang Johari jokingly said even some of his bodyguards were too scared to climb up the tower.
“What I am trying to say here is that our intention matters. If our intentions are good and what we are doing is for the benefit of others, such a blessing will come to you.
“In fact, I am often asked by fellow Cabinet ministers where I get energy considering my busy schedule. One moment I am visiting my constituency, then the next I am attending a function back in Kuching.
“We must have our directions and targets when we are working hard. I am working hard for the people, and this is a good intention; thankfully, God has blessed me with good health and strength,” he said.
