KUANTAN: A contractor does not mind spending RM5,000 to adorn his high-powered motorcycle with Jalur Gemilang while journeying across the country to celebrate the national month.
It is one of 41-year-old Mohd Hafiz M Razak’s initiatives, to show his sense of patriotism. As he aptly put it, National Day is only celebrated once a year.
For this year’s celebration, Mohd Hafiz, better known as Atan, has adorned his beloved BMW K1600 B/GA with Jalur Gemilang, using the wrapping technique, throughout the national month.
He said that it took a week to complete the wrapping process because it required careful and neat techniques to properly display the Jalur Gemilang.
“It did take time until I was completely satisfied, to ensure that the colours and stripes are exactly the same as the Jalur Gemilang.
“This is my way of expressing my love for the country, and I am proud to be able to do it in conjunction with the National Month,” he told Bernama.
Apart from transforming his motorcycle, Atan, from Jengka 14 in Maran, said that he also decorated his car with the national flag, and the area around his house was also adorned with flags. His house was once named the Rumah Keceriaan Merdeka recipient.
If that is not enough, he also participated in the 2023 Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) convoy, which started in Ipoh on July 16.
Having been active in high-powered motorcycles for the past five years, he said that he sees that his participation with the BMW K16 Riders Malaysia in the convoy can, among other things, boost the spirit of independence, which is seen to be fading, especially among the younger generation.
The father of three said that the fatigue of joining the convoy was all gone once he received a warm response from the public throughout the journey.
“Tiredness all gone when the public waved at us, and the warm response we received when the convoy carrying the Jalur Gemilang arrived at the checkpoint in each state,” he said. – BERNAMA
