KUCHING: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has praised Imran Azim Iskandar for winning the classical category of the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) violin competition in the United States.
Imran, a talented student from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bukit Assek in Sibu, has made Sarawak and Malaysia proud with his victory.
“Imran’s exceptional talent and dedication are truly inspiring and serve as an example to the youth,” Fadillah said in a Facebook post.
Imran won a silver medal in the contemporary and original works categories.
He also earned bronze medals in the jazz and open categories at the competition that took place from July 28 to Aug 6 in Anaheim, California.
Earlier, Imran received a warm welcome from his family, friends, teachers and Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng at Sibu Airport on Monday.
