KUCHING: Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How has applied to join the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP).
This news spread quickly on social media.
However, See has said these claims are not true. But, trustworthy sources say otherwise.
The news about See wanting to join SUPP got stronger after a photo appeared online last Tuesday. It showed him with SUPP’s leader, Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Premier’s Office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia.
Dr Sim put up the photo on his personal Facebook page.
Yet, on Aug 10, See told a local newspaper that he doesn’t belong to any party and will keep helping the people who elected him on his own.
He also said that the meeting with Abang Johari and Dr Sim was just to discuss about the developments of Batu Lintang and Sarawak.
See said he first told Dr Sim he wanted to meet Abang Johari.
The news became stronger when Violet Yong, from the Democratic Action Party (DAP), posted on her Facebook page, “Today (Aug 15), SUPP has a new member from Batu Lintang.”
New Sarawak Tribune tried to talk to See and Dr Sim for more comments, but couldn’t reach them.
Before, See was the vice-chairman of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak. But they removed him from the party in April 2020.
Then he joined Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) in May 2020, but left in August the same year.
Since then, he’s been serving his constituency as an Independent assemblyman.
