KUCHING: Police have taken decisive action against drivers whose vehicle licence plates do not conform to the law by issuing a total of 83 traffic summonses.
The Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department conducted a special traffic operation around Kuching yesterday (Aug 15) to ensure compliance with specific traffic regulations.
During the operation, a comprehensive inspection was carried out on 207 vehicles comprising 172 cars, 15 motorcycles, 11 pickup trucks and nine vans.
“As a result, a significant number of traffic violations came to light and the team issued a total of 154 traffic summonses.
“Of the figure, 83 were related to licence plate offences and 71 linked to obstructing traffic,” the department said.
The department stressed the importance of road users adhering to traffic rules and regulations for the greater good of the community.
