IPOH: The police have detained a man for allegedly robbing and outraging the modesty of an elderly woman in Pokok Assam near Taiping.
Taiping district police chief ACP Razlam Ab Hamid said the 32-year-old suspect was detained at 3.30 pm last Tuesday following a report about the incident lodged at 8.40 am the same day.
He said initial investigation revealed that during the incident, the 75-year-old victim was at her house compound alone.
“The suspect then dragged the woman into her house and molested her before fleeing with some valuables and money worth about RM5,000 in a Honda HR-V belonging to the victim’s in-laws.
“The victim’s son-in-law’s vehicle was later found about 1.3 km from the scene,” he said in a statement.
Razlam said the suspect, who is unemployed and tested positive for heroin, has been remanded for a week until Aug 22 to facilitate investigations under Sections 392 and 397 of the Penal Code. – BERNAMA
