KUCHING: The Santubong National Park will be closed this Sunday (Aug 20) for the Santubong Hiking Challenge 2023 event, the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) announced today.
SFC said the closure was necessary to ensure the participants’ safety.
“We apologise for any convenience caused and thank you for your patience and understanding,” the corporation said in its Facebook posting.
Santubong National Park, located in the picturesque region of Sarawak, has long been a haven for nature lovers, boasting lush rainforests, diverse wildlife, and captivating hiking trails.
With its rich biodiversity and stunning landscapes, the park has become a favoured destination for both locals and tourists.
Visitors to the park can revel in its myriad offerings, including the iconic Santubong Summit Trail, renowned for its challenging terrain and breath-taking panoramic views.
The park’s flora and fauna are a testament to its ecological significance, providing a glimpse into Malaysia’s natural heritage.
“The public is encouraged to mark their calendars for the event, which promises an unforgettable adventure in the heart of Sarawak’s pristine wilderness,” SFC said.
