BALINGIAN: In an effort to enhance community ties, the Merdeka Semarak Ria programme will solidify relations among local community watch groups, known as Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT).
Scheduled to take place at Pasar Lama Balingian from August 25 to 27, the program coincides with the celebration of the 66th National Day.
Programme chairwoman Fatimah Narawi, said through this programme, members from each KRT group will work together, building stronger relationships with each other.
Within Balingian, six distinct KRT groups exist: Pulat Setia, Kuala Mas, Pekan Balingian, Kampung Masjid, Kampung Lintang, and Kampung Suyong.
Besides, Fatimah also wants to highlight the Friday Night Saturday Market (JSM), which has been operating since August 4.
A convoy from Sibu, consisting of KRT Nangka, Bandung, and Abang Barieng, will be part of this exciting event as well.
Fatimah, who is also KRT Pulat Setia chairwoman, has revealed that there will be a variety of engaging activities during the programme. These activities include a mukun performance, a children’s fashion competition, a patriotic song choir competition, and more during the Cultural Night.
The programme will be officially launched on the night of August 26 by Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi.
