SRI AMAN: Munggu Sawa area is experiencing major changes with several development projects promising various opportunities for local residents here.
Bukit Begunan assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang said one of the projects being implemented is the construction of a new road from Banting to the Bukit Lesung area.
He said the development of this infrastructure will bring benefits to the residents in addition to facilitating access and encouraging economic growth around the area.
Mong said this in his speech at the ‘Program Randau Bersama Komuniti’ held at Rumah Jampang Tibu, Munggu Sawa here, recently.
He added that the plans to build a Tourism Complex in the area have also been submitted through the Sri Aman Development Agency’s (SADA) Active Village Principle Scheme project.
Mong said that this project will open up new opportunities in the tourism industry and attract foreign visitors.
“The complex is expected to become a centre for various tourism activities and help boost the local economy.
“It is understood that WWF-Malaysia has installed camera traps in the Bukit Lesung area and has managed to capture first-ever images of orangutans there,” he said.
Accordingly, he encouraged residents in the Bukit Lesung area to get involved in the tourism industry by establishing homestays, including promoting the handicraft industry.
“This step will not only create additional income for the residents, but will also introduce travellers to the cultural heritage and natural beauty of the region,” he said.
Mong said discussions have also been held with the Public Works Department (PWD) regarding the development of the access road to Munggu Sawa to ensure better access to the area.
He also announced an allocation of RM10,000 for Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and RM5,000 for the Women’s Bureau of Rumah Jampang, Munggu Sawa.
