KUCHING: A total of 100 volunteers from Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA), XFAB Sarawak and the Village Development and Safety Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Pasir Panjang participated in the Beach Clean-Up programme at Pasir Panjang beach last Saturday.
The theme of the programme was “Pantai Indah, Amalan Kita”. The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme is one of LCDA’s efforts to bring awareness to the local community, especially the younger generation, to create awareness of the importance of preserving and conserving the environment’s beauty, especially the beaches.
Other activities were also held, namely the planting of trees donated by the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU), a colouring competition with the concept of “Nature” for kindergarten children and the handing over of food donations to the needy.
Pasir Panjang beach is one of the focus areas for outdoor visitors to have fun, enjoy the sea breeze and the beautiful view of the beach which stretches across one kilometre while D’Cove is a public recreation area which is owned by LCDA
According to a press statement issued by LCDA, this CSR programme was jointly organised by XFAB Sarawak, DBKU and Kampung Pasir Panjang JKKK to protect and preserve the environment in order to increase a sense of responsibility in reducing pollution or waste production, especially in tourist hotspots areas in Pasir Panjang.
Present during the programme were senior manager of LCDA’s Corporate Affairs Division, Saiful Bahari Amra Ramly; senior manager representing XFAB, Sarawak Sharon Voon and Kampung Pasir Panjang village chief Hadeli Piee.
