TANJUNG MANIS: An early morning plastic waste fire damaged a factory along Jalan Dewan Industri Kecil Sederhana here yesterday (Aug 20).
The incident was noticed by residents nearby who alerted the authorities.
A spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Tanjung Manis station were despatched to the scene following an emergency call around 6.30 am.
On arrival, the team found that the fire involved plastic waste and it had caused about 85 per cent damages to the front part of the factory.
The firefighters initially encountered some difficulties as the area had no open water source and the team had to use water from their fire truck.
The flames were put out around 8.35 am.
