KUCHING: Three local men sustained injuries after the car they were in skidded and crashed a road divider along Jalan Simpang Tiga yesterday (Aug 21).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that the accident occurred around 1.35 pm near Kuching police headquarters (IPD).
Firefighters from the Padungan station, along with paramedics, were swiftly dispatched to the scene to carry out rescue operations.
Upon arrival, the team found one of the victims still pinned in the front passenger seat. Extrication works were conducted using rescue tools.
Meanwhile, the other two victims – the driver and the back seat passenger – managed to exit the car before the team’s arrival at the scene.
Initially, all the victims received on-site medical treatment for their injuries before being transported to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment.
Padungan firefighters also conducted flushing works to clear the road of debris, concluding the operation around 2.20 pm.
Traffic police officers from Kuching IPD were present to direct the flow of traffic.
