SIBU: Lions Club members have come in for praise for their compassion, service and the desire to create lasting change.
In giving them a pat on the back, Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng said they are dedicated to making a difference and improving lives in ways that truly matter.
“All Lions Clubs in Sibu have consistently exemplified this spirit of service, from providing essential healthcare services to underprivileged families, to supporting education initiatives that empower our youth, you have tirelessly pursued the betterment of society.
“Through various projects such as health screenings, educational scholarships, and environmental awareness campaigns, you have been a beacon of hope, proving that collective action can indeed transform lives, “, he said at the joint installation of 13 Lions Clubs’ new board of directors here on Sunday night (Aug 20).
The 13 Lions Clubs from Sibu of Region 2 and Region 3 of Lions International District 308-A2 are Sibu (Host), Sibu Mandarin, Sibu Berjaya, Sibu Seduan, Sibu Jaya, Sibu Sungai Merah, Sibu Bawang Assan, Sibu Nangka, Sibu Queensway, Sibu Lanang, Sibu Dudong, Sibu Rejang and Sibu Loving Care.
Chieng said for decades, Lions Clubs International has worked tirelessly to bring about meaningful change by addressing critical issues affecting communities across the globe.
As the Lions movement lies in community activities, he said every act of service, no matter how small, contributes to the larger tapestry of positive change.
“Together, we can create a world where every individual has access to the resources they need to thrive, where every child can receive education, and where no one is left behind.
“The “We Serve – Make a World of Difference” theme encapsulates the power we hold as Lions do shape a brighter, more inclusive future.
“This theme resonates deeply with the core values and mission of Lions Clubs worldwide, reflecting all Lions members’ unwavering committment to serving communities and leaving a positive impact on the world around us,” he pointed out.
Lions Club International District 308-A2 Governor Kapitan Ronny Hiew was also present at the ceremony.
