The Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) has been urged to embrace the latest technological advancements, particularly in the realm of e-commerce, to foster economic growth within the Dayak community.
Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan pointed out the importance of SDNU adapting to a digital-based economy and leveraging e-commerce platforms to uplift the community’s economic prospects.
“SDNU can adopt a role similar to that of e-commerce platforms like Shopee, helping market Dayak community products on a global scale.
“We can set up a SDNU Market Place on social media or transforming SDNU into a digital marketing centre for these products,” he said at the Economic Development Seminar at Rumah SDNU Sibu here.
The seminar was organised by SDNU Sibu in collaboration with the Sibu District Agriculture Department, Borneo MA Smart Vendors Sdn Bhd, and DA Virtual Sdn Bhd.
Lidam highlighted the need for SDNU to establish a robust network and engage in collaborations to fully explore and develop the potential of the e-commerce platform.
He stressed the importance of SDNU becoming a proactive trade “centre” for the Dayak community by providing the necessary platform facilities.
“Entrepreneurs within the community could place their products within the SDNU marketplace, which would then handle digital marketing efforts on their behalf.”
To succeed in the modern business landscape, Lidam stressed the importance of establishing strong connections with relevant stakeholders, enabling SDNU to effectively navigate the new digital landscape and contribute to the economic advancement of the Dayak community.
