KUCHING: Narcotics police arrested 18 locals including seven women on suspicion of abusing drugs in an entertainment centre last Saturday (Aug 26).
The raid codenamed ‘Ops Pusat Hiburan’ was carried out around 11.15 pm at Jalan Canna.
Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said 21 persons between the ages of 21 and 31 were inspected.
“Preliminary results from urine tests found that 11 men and seven women were involved in substance abuse.
“All of them are arrested under Section 15(1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said in a statement.
If found guilty, the suspects may face a fine of up to RM5,000 or a jail sentence of up to two years.
