DALAT: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas is pleased with the ongoing RM74.2 million Jalan Kampung Medong-Lebrasau-Klid construction project in Dalat district.
He noted that the 11.67km road project is progressing well after the project was re-tendered. It is expected to be completed by July 19, 2025.
“I visited the construction site. This was a ‘sick project’ and the initial contract was terminated in March 2022.
“Now we have awarded a new contract and construction began on Jan 20 this year and is expected to be completed in July 2025,” he told a press conference after visiting the project site yesterday (Aug 30).
Uggah, who is also the Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, said that the project scope includes building a road with R2 standards, constructing 20 culverts and three bridges.
“We are satisfied with the implementation of this project with a completion rate of 8.81 per cent as of Aug 25 this year. In fact, this project is now on schedule.
“We have also been briefed on the number of workers, machinery and construction materials available at the site by the appointed company,” he added.
Uggah expressed hope that the project will be completed according to the schedule, and assured that he will monitor it periodically to ensure smooth progress according to the timeframe.
Through this approach, he believed the project will no longer be categorised as a ‘sick project’.
“The people have been waiting for a long time, and the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government is always striving to ensure the recovery of these ‘sick projects’.
“So far, we haven’t encountered any obstacles that would affect the project, and we hope the project can be executed smoothly,” he added.
