KUCHING: Fifty Neighbourhood Watch Area (KRT) Dang Esah and KRT Kalok Hilir, 50 members decided to go camping for three days and two nights at Pantai Alit to celebrate National Day.

Chairman of KRT Dang Esah, Mohd Sharkawi Meni said his Neighbourhood Watch Area held different celebration programmes each year.

He added that such activities were not possible without the strong support of members.

“In this regard, I must commend the members of KRT Dang Esah and KRT Kalok Hilir for setting up 17 tents to camp here and organise various activities.

“All 50 participants were enthusiastic, and our objective to instill love and affection for the homeland was achieved,” he said yesterday.

He explained that during the trip, they had activities such as parades, sports competitions, fishing, “Nujum Pak Belalang” competition, a cooking competition and a relaxing night barbecue.

“Additionally, we also managed to provide assistance to KRT in Kampung Nyabor by distributing Asyura porridge,” he added.

“I believe that occasionally, big gatherings can be enjoyable. Some have admitted that the trip was a new experience for them.

“For instance, a member who’s over 70 years old, known as Puan Ba’yah, said it was the first time she participated in such a programme,” he shared.

In conjunction with the 66th National Day this year, Sharkawi hoped that the people of Malaysia would continue to stay united.
