Awang Tengah opens Sarawak Pavilion at China fair

KUCHING: A Sarawak Pavilion spearheaded by the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment has been set up at the China International Fair Trade in Service (CIFTIS) 2023. 

According to a statement, the pavilion was launched by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan at the China National Convention Centre yesterday (Sept 2).

It stated that the Sarawak Pavilion served to provide an umbrella for Sarawak’s agencies to promote potential investment and cooperation opportunities available presently and in the near future.

CIFTIS 2023 organised by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM) focuses on business services, communication services, construction, and related engineering services, distribution services, educational services, environmental services, financial services, health and social services, tourism and travel related services, recreational, cultural and sports services, transport services and other services.

The fair also provides opportunities for participants to forge new networks and meet new business partners in China, conduct negotiations and establish cooperation on trade.

Among the expected participants include dignitaries from various countries, heads of international organisations as well as domestic and foreign government departments and business chambers.

Accompanying  Awang Tengah during the officiating ceremony were Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Karim Rahman Hamzah and his Deputy Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew; Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh together with the Sarawak delegates from the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA), Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC), Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development, Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development , Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC), Sarawak Tourism Board (STB), Business Event Sarawak (BESarawak), Sarawak Craft Council (SCC), and others.
