KUCHING: The Sarawak pavilion at the ongoing China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) 2023 in Beijing is a hit among visitors.

It is attracting overwhelming response, drawing visitors in with its unique offerings spanning investment opportunities, culture, tourism, food, and beverages, as well as educational and other services offered by Sarawak.

“CIFTIS serves as a prominent platform for international trade negotiations, cooperation, and investment in the services sector. It attracts participants from across the globe, representing diverse industries such as finance, technology, healthcare, tourism, and education.

“As such, this event presents a unique opportunity for Sarawak to showcase its economic potential, foster valuable business relationships, and explore avenues for collaboration with both domestic and international partners.

“CIFTIS 2023 offers Sarawak the chance to engage with influential global leaders, government officials, industry experts, and potential investors,” according to a press release.

The event boasts high-level forums, seminars, exhibitions, and business matchmaking sessions designed to facilitate networking and knowledge exchange among participants, opening doors for potential partnerships and collaborations.

In recent years, Sarawak has participated in a hybrid mode (online and physical) due to stringent border controls imposed by China during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Sarawak pavilion was officially launched on Saturday (Sept 2) by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who is also the Minister for International Trade, Industry, and Investment, and Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development.

Also present at the launch in Beijing were Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

The Sarawak delegation marked their presence at the grand opening of CIFTIS 2023 officiated by China President Xi Jinping.

Following the official launch, they proceeded to the inauguration of the Sarawak pavilion, led by Awang Tengah.

CIFTIS 2023 is scheduled to run from Sept 2 to 6.
