KUCHING: Samarahan is now drawing increased interest from investors and businesses, after traffic relief and upcoming Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) project by 2025.
Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman, Datuk Peter Minos, was optimistic about Samarahan’s business future.
He said, “We’re seeing major companies, including Ibraco, HSL, and Farley Supermarket Group, setting up here. We invite more to join.”
“In the past 20 years, our population has grown significantly. We’re now approaching 300,000 residents and have nearly 50,000 homes. Many large government projects are also underway here,” Minos shared.
“By 2030, we might see a population of 500,000 and 100,000 homes. Given the current momentum, Samarahan could qualify as a city,” Minos said this when officiating the grand opening of Fei Yue Tyre Sdn Bhd here today (Sept 9).
“Reducing bureaucratic hurdles is crucial. Excessive red tape not only slows business growth but also dampens private sector enthusiasm. After all, it’s the entrepreneurs and investors who energise and enrich our community,” he added.
