SARIKEI:  The Sarikei Department of Information Malaysian (JAPEN), in collaboration with SMK St Anthony, organised the “Semarak Patriotisme” programme as part of the celebration of the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) event at Sarikei district level, held here yesterday morning.

“During the event, various cultural performances were presented by students as the highlight of the celebration.

“These performances included choral speaking, rhythmic speech, Ngajat dance, unity dance, Chinese dance, poetry recitation, poetry declamation, Chinese song solo, and the most beautiful ethnic attire competition.

“A Jalur Gemilang video presentation and a national quiz focusing on the Rukun Negara were also conducted as a way to convey information to the students. Earlier, a Malaysia Day poster competition was held as part of the national month celebrations,” it said in a press release issued yesterday.

The event was inaugurated by the principal of SMK St. Anthony, Vincent Liong Sou Chuan, and was attended by Sarikei District Information Officer Michael Sabek, Meradong District Information Officer Nor Hidayah Ismail, as well as nearly 1,000 students from the school.
