KUCHING: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin al-Mustafa Billah Shah has expressed his regret at not being able to stop at several locations in Sarawak and Sabah during the recent Kembara Kenali Borneo convoy.
Comptroller of the Royal Family and Household, Maj-Gen Datuk Indera Zahari Mohd Ariffin shared that Sultan Abdullah and his entourage were unable to make stops at various locations due to unavoidable and unintentional factors.
Maj-Gen Zahari further explained that although Their Majesties greeted the thousands of people who lined the road to welcome them, they were unable to stop at certain locations.
However, he emphasised that Sultan Abdullah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah appreciated the enthusiasm and warmth of the people who eagerly awaited their arrival, sought to meet them, shake hands, and take photos.
“His Majesty expressed his intention to visit these unvisited locations in the future if circumstances permit. Additionally, if the situation does not allow for such visits, His Majesty’s sons may represent him on such occasions,” Maj-Gen Zahari said in a Istana Negara statement on Friday (Sept 15).
Some of the locations not visited in Sabah included Menara Kayangan in Lahad Datu and Tagal in Sungai Maroli, Ranau. In Sarawak, the entourage did not visit Yu Lung Sian En Si Temple in Sibu, Masjid Bandar Sri Aman, and Fort Alice in Sri Aman.
