MUKAH: The “Malaysia Walk”, a key highlight of the 2023 Mukah District Level Malaysia Day Carnival, attracted over 2,000 individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages, covering a distance of three kilometres.
Tellian assemblyman, Royston Valentine, emphasised the importance of celebrating Malaysia Day, marking the formation of Malaysia.
“This celebration fosters unity. It’s vital that our youth join in and engage with the various activities offered during the carnival,” said Royston.
He said this to reporters after officiating at the ‘Malaysia Walk’ at Dataran Pehin Setia Raja, yesterday.
Kicking off at 7 am, the event began with an exercise session. The event also featured the Healthy Agenda Agency Exhibition, Netball and Street Soccer Competitions, an Archery Workshop, Mini Games, as well as Food and Sales Stalls, topped off with the unique ‘Car Boot Sales and Food Truck’ segment.
Royston also extended his gratitude to the Mukah District Office for efficiently organising the carnival.
He highlighted that the event received backing from Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib and Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi, making the day-long festivities possible.
Also present were Acting District Officer Mukah, Peleadzman Ahip, Temenggong Hendi Suhai, and Pemanca Mohamad Jali Kawi.
