KUCHING: A housewife from Sarawak has emerged as the biggest winner in the recent RM22.9 million Sports Toto 4D Jackpot 1, which was shared among lucky winners from Melaka, Selangor, Sarawak, and Sabah on Sept 9.
STM Lottery Sdn Bhd in a statement said the 53-year-old Sarawak resident, who isn’t a regular lottery player, decided to try her luck when she felt inspired during a visit to relatives in another town.
Coincidentally, she bumped into a friend enjoying a holiday there.
“Such a coincidence was rare, so I decided to bet on our car registration numbers, 9861 and 3856, and it turned out to be the winning pair of 4D numbers for me,” she said.
To her astonishment, these numbers turned out to be the winning combination, securing her a staggering RM17.3 million.
The Sarawak winner remains overwhelmed by the win and hasn’t yet made concrete plans for spending her windfall.
However, she intends to show her gratitude by purchasing some special gifts for the friend who inspired her to take the chance.
“Her ticket, a System 11, brought her RM17,340,445.75, along with a System Play bonus of RM3,024,” the statement added.
In this jackpot event, the second winner hails from Melaka, winning RM3,152,808.30 and an additional bonus of RM611.
The 45-year-old insurance agent opted to bet on her family members’ car registration numbers, 1113 and 9861, using an i-System 12 ticket.
The statement said she admitted that she only plays the Toto 4D Jackpot game when the jackpot amount exceeds RM10 million.
“It was actually my husband who alerted and asked me if I had bet on my set of favourite numbers when he saw the live draw results on Saturday.
“We hugged and screamed like mad people when we confirmed that we had partially won the jackpot,” she said.
The third winner, a 41-year-old real estate agent from Selangor, secured RM2,040,052.30 and an extra bonus of RM633.60.
He placed his bet on his late mother’s birth date and her car registration numbers, 1113 and 9861, through an i-System 18 ticket. The win comes as a relief to him, as he plans to use the money to clear his debts.
The final winner from Sabah claimed RM398,630.85 with an i-System ticket, rounding out the quartet of lucky individuals who shared in this remarkable jackpot win.
