KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here, fined a local woman RM800 in default of two weeks in prison for intentionally causing injury to a teenage girl earlier this month.

Atatirana Matadi, 29, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali to a charge framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries up to one year in prison or a fine of up to RM2,000 or both, upon conviction.

She committed the offence to a 16-year-old girl in front of a shop at Kota Sentosa at around 9 pm on Sept 6.

According to the facts of the case, while the teenager was in a shop to buy drinks, her boyfriend’s former wife suddenly confronted her.

Atatirana then slapped the girl’s cheek and lips as well as punched her stomach, causing a wound on the lip.

Following that, the attacker took the victim in her car and left her by the roadside at Kota Sentosa health clinic.

As a result, the victim sustained stomach pain and a wound on her lip. A police report was made by the victim for further action.

The cause of the incident was because Atatirana was dissatisfied with the victim, who was in a relationship with her ex-husband.

Investigations found that the attacker had injured the victim, which caused wounds to the upper and lower lips and pain to the stomach.

Therefore, based on all the available evidence, Atatirana committed an offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code.

Insp Mohd Adzmei Ahmad prosecuted the case while, Atatirana was unrepresented by a counsel.
