KUCHING: A polytechnic lecturer and a primary school teacher were killed following a two-vehicle collision along Jalan FAC in Petra Jaya here yesterday.
The accident, which happened at around 12 pm, involved a Perodua Bezza and a Honda Jazz that were travelling in opposite directions.
Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah when contacted, confirmed that they received a report regarding the fatal crash at around 12.15 pm.
“Both of the drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
“The victims are a 44-year-old female polytechnic lecturer and a 33-year-old male primary school teacher.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) dispatched firefighters from Petra Jaya station to the scene.
On arrival, they found that both drivers were still in their vehicles and performed extrication works to remove them from the cars.
The drivers were then handed over to the police to be taken to the hospital for post-mortem.
The team also conducted flushing works at the scene to clear the road from oil spills and debris before concluding the operation at 3.31 pm.
