KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is able to break down silos and recognise the potential synergies to be had collaborating with ministries in the new digital world, says Investment, Trade, and Industry Deputy Minister Liew Chin Tong.
He said as the government doubles down its efforts to drive the digital economy forward, silos is a key barrier to transformation.
He said Malaysia is famous for silos because the people within a ministry, department or industry “will not talk to each other.”
“But in this new digital world, we need to be able to pull down walls and break down silos,” he said in his keynote address at INsights@Axiata forum here today.
Liew also said the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP 2030) is a key component of the Madani Economy framework as it supports the realisation of economic reforms.
Four missions have been formulated to drive transformation, he said.
For example, mission one is to advance economic complexity, and industries will be encouraged to innovate and produce more sophisticated products. This will enhance Malaysia’s competitiveness in the global market, he said.
The focus on Southeast Asia will also enable Malaysia to connect and work with other countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand, which will boost the country’s economic capacity. – BERNAMA
