SIBU: The Sibu police have been instructed to investigate every complaint from the community with full integrity to prevent any dissatisfaction with the quality of the investigative process.
Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said it is crucial to maintain community trust in the police service’s ability to conduct thorough investigations.
“Investigating officers must always be aware and equip themselves with legal skills and SOPs (standard operating procedures) that are used to address weaknesses and negligence in conducting the investigation.
“In this context, we don’t want to leave room for the community or any particular group out there to hurl insults due to their lack of confidence in the police service’s ability to carry out investigative tasks,” he said at the Sibu police monthly parade yesterday (Sept 22).
Zulkipli said that community satisfaction with the services provided nowadays serves as a yardstick for the overall quality of police services.
“In the realm of service, we, as members of the police force, must provide excellent and quality service to them in line with the passage of time.
“So, I call on all members of IPD Sibu to cooperate in ensuring the quality of service we provide to the people in this Sibu district is at an excellent level in accordance with the force’s theme, which is ‘Polis dan Masyarakat Berpisah Tiada,’ when working in the field or at the complaint counter,” he said.
He stressed that the police must use speech and language that are pleasant and polite when dealing with the community.
Zulkipli also emphasised that the police need to undergo a transformation in terms of mindset and working methods to adopt a first-class work culture based on more complex and intellectual thinking.
