SERIAN: The newly-built Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Kampung Tarat Mawang here was officially opened on Sunday (Sept 24).

It was officiated by the Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah.

Elder Richard Rumpet, who is the church director, said the RM450,000 project would not have succeeded without the support of all parties.

He said the church received contributions from three different financial sources to realise this project.

“A sum of RM250,000 was received from the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) while RM150,000 was provided by the Tarat Service Centre through a Rural Transformation Project (RTP) grant, and a contribution of RM50,000 from the Puncak Borneo Member of Parliament’s Service Centre for floor tile installation,” he said during the opening ceremony.

Construction of the church began in March 2018 and was completed in December 2022.

Also present were political secretary to the Premier Damen Rejek; representative of Unifor’s director Ambrose Linang; executive secretary of the Malaysia Adventists Union Mission Pastor Nelson Bendah and President of Sarawak Seventh-Day Adventist Mission Pastor Semillee Tajau.
