KUCHING: Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has expressed his deep affection for the people of Sarawak, Sabah, Brunei and Pahang as he concluded his remarkable Kembara Kenali Borneo journey earlier this month.

During a speech at the inauguration of the Guai Bridge in Kampung Seberang Guai, Pahang, which was renamed Jambatan Al-Sultan Abdullah, Istana Negara in a Facebook post reported that the King shared his heartfelt sentiments.

“I want to take this opportunity. This is the first time I am speaking after 10 days on the tour, and my family still misses the people of Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, and, of course, Pahang.

“Let me tell everyone in Borneo that it is far from the eyes but close to the heart. I hope the people in Borneo miss us too,” said Sultan Abdullah.

The Kembara Kenali Borneo Tour, covering a distance of 2,154km along the Pan Borneo Highway from Sept 3 to 13, offered numerous beautiful experiences.

Accompanying Sultan Abdullah on this memorable journey were Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and their children.

The royal entourage commenced their journey on Sept 3 from Tawau, Sabah, with a stopover in Brunei, before continuing their travels along the Pan Borneo Highway through Sarawak.

Their tour concluded on Sept 13 at the 0km mark in the seaside village of Telok Melano, Lundu.

Throughout this remarkable journey, the convoy covered a total distance of more than 2,000km, creating lasting memories and forging strong bonds with the communities of Borneo.
